Columbus, Georgia - A trip down memory lane

Columbus, Georgia, is an old town with so much charm.  The city has done very well to keep their original buildings.  Columbus sits on the Chattahoochee River, with Phenix City, Alabama, on the other side.

Some beautiful old homes in the downtown area

This is the old mill that has been made into beautiful apartments.  The mill is on the river.  The city has a beautiful park with a walking path and lots of things to see.

Some kayakers on the river

These dogs were so cute, a big dog and a puppy.  The puppy wouldn't go in the water but wanted the stick the big dog had.  He stood in about an inch of water and just waited for the big dog to come back so he could take his stick.

City of Homes, Newnan GA

Today I visited the small, charming town of Newnan, Georgia.  This is a very historic town and the downtown square is beautiful.  If you go to the old Courthouse / Visitor's Center, you will be greeted by a very nice man who will tell you all about the town, and he even invited me to a music event on Sunday.  He gave me a map of the historic homes (this town is known as the City of Homes).  You can walk or drive and see many beautiful Victorian, Craftsman, and other styles of homes.  It's all free and very enjoyable!

The homes were all beautiful.  Some big, some small.  All wonderful!

The town is small and charming.

Tryon International Equestrian Center (Mill Spring, North Carolina)

Today, I visited the Tryon International Equestrian Center.  This is a world-class center and the grounds are magnificent.  Besides the horses, there are lots of shops, restaurants and things to do.  Today, I was lucky enough to see a lot of the horses practicing and even a competition.  These horses are gorgeous and AMAZING!  It was a beautiful day here in Tryon and I am so glad I visited this place.  It's free, parking is free, and it's just a really nice place to walk around and explore.  The horses are so pampered and well-cared for - one even was getting a nice bath after he competed.  And, they are super dog-friendly, as is depicted by my last few photos!

The horses were SO impressive!  (Some being ridden by children.)

So beautiful!

This guy was getting a bath - he seemed to enjoy it!

The center is beautiful

Lots of little shops and restaurants.

SUPER dog-friendly!

The puppy was so cute, he was trying to get the bulldog to heel
(the bulldog wasn't having any part of that!)
